Antoinette Seiler (50) has now advanced to the elite division of the dancers called the ‘All Stars’ of which she is fifth in the country and the third woman.

AVID linedancer, Antoinette Seiler (50) has won the advanced silver female division at the World Masters Championships held in Blackpool, United Kingdom on Sunday, 13 August.

Antoinette started her line dancing expedition 11 years ago in the heart of Athlone Park, and her love for the sport has only grown with time.

The line dancer moved from Warner Beach with her husband when he was placed abroad. “I now live in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia but I am from Warner Beach, and I come home twice a year,” said Antoinette.

Avid linedancer, Antoinette Seiler (50) won the advanced silver female division at the World Masters Championships held in Blackpool, United Kingdom on Sunday, 13 August.

“This win holds a special place in my heart,” she admitted. “I attended the South African champs and attained third place the year before and had decided to ‘hang up the dancing shoes’, so to speak. When the director of World Dance Masters Nicola Helen persuaded me to try again, I started the seven-month journey of training and preparing to attain this goal. My aim was to try and place on this podium and do my best. I was totally ecstatic when I won the title. Along with it, I have now advanced to the elite division of the dancers called the ‘All Stars’ of which I am fifth in the country and the third woman. This is extremely prestigious accolade and an honour to belong to.”

Line dancing encompasses all ages and styles of dance while staying true to its country roots, Antoinette explained why it’s just the style for her.

“It embraces a sols form of ballroom dancing where you embrace various styles, some being the waltz, cha cha and East Coast swing. However, you don’t need a partner,” explained Antoinette. “It’s a fun and social way to enjoy dance, irrespective of your ability. I highly recommend it as it is a fun form of physical and mental exercise that can be done at any age.”

The line dancer thanks her husband Robert Seiler for supporting, believing in her and her dreams. Her children Kingsley, Rainbow and Savanna as well as sisters Pearl and Valerie have her gratitude for their unfailing encouragement and support over the years and the many competitions they have been dragged to.

“I look forward to taking a small break now until the new dances are released in 2018,” she said. “I will then decide which challenges to take on.”
