Drape Amanzimtoti in pink for cancer support drive

Contact Khanya Hospice and contribute your first R150 for five metres of pink material.

The Pink Tree drive revs up on Spring Day, Friday, 1 September.

“Let’s unite and support the people fighting the dreaded disease called cancer. Too many people are suffering from it,” said Khanya Hospice CEO, Neil McDonald.

Rotary and volunteers, both local and in many parts of the world, will help Khanya Hospice with its fundraising initiative, the cancer awareness campaign from 1 September to the end of ‘Movember’.

They will all focus on selling pink material in aid of cancer awareness and the work that Hospice does. People are encouraged to wrap trees in pink in front of their house, office and surrounding areas.

“Just wrap anything in pink, as we need to create an awareness,” said Neil. “You can wrap a pole, pillar, post box, your gates or as many trees as your like.

This initiative will help raise much-needed funds for Khanya Hospice, which offers free daily palliative nursing care to patients diagnosed with cancer.”

Where can you start? Contact Khanya Hospice and contribute your first R150 for five metres of pink material. Toti Rotary has bought lots of pink material for this initiative and will sell pieces to whomever wants. Challenge your neighbours, work colleagues, family and friends.

“This can be great fun for a good cause. We challenge businesses, individuals, volunteers, housewives, students, sports and social clubs to get involved in this worldwide initiative. Businesses that donate will get a receipt on request. It will be great if you can take photos of your initiative and forward them on to us.”
