High swells lead to beach closure

Currently there are five-metre swells along the Transkei coast and these are expected to come through overnight.

All beaches from Isipingo to Umkomaas are closed for bathing due to rough seas and the removal of the shark nets.

This morning (Thursday, 24 August) there was a Weather Service warning about six-metre swells for this afternoon from PE to Durban.

Acting Amanzimtoti beach manager, Jace Govender said there are currently five-metre swells along the Transkei coast and these are expected to come through overnight.
