Pickpocketing gang bust in Winklespruit

Four suspects, three women and a man, were handed over to Toti SAPS.

Four robbers were nabbed by alert security guards at a Winklespruit shopping centre on Thursday morning, 18 August.

Local chainstore security member, Bevan van Vuuren received information about a wanted vehicle parked at Kingsburgh Shopping Centre’s parking lot.

The information was confirmed with surveillance footage from past incidents in the area that it was the same vehicle used by a pickpocketing and shoplifting syndicate.

Bevan and his team, including Buyisa Security and Toti SAPS, swooped on the suspects who were busy targetting their next victim.

Four suspects, three women and a man, were handed over to Toti SAPS and taken to the police station.

“They have been involved in many cases of pickpocketing wallets and cellphones at Kingsburgh Shopping Centre, Arbour Crossing and Galleria Mall. If anyone has had their phone or property stolen recently in the centres, they must go report it, as it could be linked to the suspects,” said Van Vuuren.
