Woman killed, 14 injured in Isipingo collision

Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the woman, however her injuries were too severe and she died on the scene.

One person was killed and 14 others injured in a collision between a taxi and a vehicle at the corner of Wanda Cele Road and Lotus Road in Isipingo south of Durban this morning (Friday, 11 August).

“Paramedics arrived just after 6.30am to find the woman driver of the car entrapped with critical injuries,” said Rescue Care operations manager, Ceron Lennox.
While advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise her in the car, the Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to cut her free.

A short while after extricating her from the wreckage the woman went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate her, however her injuries were too severe and she died on the scene.

Fourteen passengers from the taxi sustained various injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were stabilised on the scene before being transported to various hospitals. The cause of the collision is unknown, however SAPS will be investigating further.
