The Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) warns local fishermen to be alert following an incident at Baggies Beach on Thursday, 10 August.
“If you’re planning on going fishing in our area over the next few days, be careful,” said CCPO committee member, George Snodey.
A fisherman in the area of the hump was approached by three well-dressed men believed to be around 25 years old.
When he saw them approaching, the fisherman walked into the sea. They asked him to come out and he declined.

Two other fishermen noticed what was going on and headed in the man’s direction to help him. This caused the three men to walk off towards the station bridge area.
“We are not sure what they were after at this stage, but the CCPO will monitor the area,” said Snodey.

“In the meantime, stay alert and remember if the situation gets worse, head into the sea. If they steal your possessions, it’s not the end of the world. Perhaps don’t take expensive items like cellphones with you, so that if they decide to steal your items, you won’t lose much.
