Sven Sinclair’s vehicle was shot at and he sustained a shrapnel wound to his leg.

He is convinced his return fire injured the shooter. Sven was on his way from Illovo Beach, where he is an active member of a crime Whatsapp group, to visit his girlfriend in Winklespruit. On the way he stopped at the Kingsburgh Shopping Centre.

“Some people said they had heard shots being fired,” he said. “When I drove past, I saw two Mercedes parked at the taxi rank and I was immediately suspicious because two had been stolen earlier that day.

I turned around at the testing grounds and as I drove back, I saw three guys running with automatic weapons. One ran towards me, firing.”

One of the bullets hit Sven’s driver door, fragmented and two pieces of the jacket struck his right leg.

He returned five shots. “I’m pretty sure I got him. I only realised I had been shot when I stopped my car and saw the blood.

Soon after that I heard an explosion when they bombed the safe.

It was a pretty traumatic experience, but I’m not in too much pain.”
