Nine people injured in separate accidents

A pedestrian was injured in one incident while eight people, including minors, were injured in a separate collision.

A pedestrian was hit by a motor vehicle in the Amanzimtoti CBD on Kingsway on
Thursday, 27 July at about 5pm.

A Voluntary Emergency Medical Assistance (VEMA) paramedic found the person lying on the floor with a head injury.

He assessed and took control of the scene and assisted the ambulance crew.

The patient was stabilised on scene, before being transported to hospital.

SAPS were on scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the event.

“Our thanks goes to ET Rapid Response and ER24 paramedics on scene,” said a VEMA paramedic.

In a separate incident, eight people, including minors, were injured in a three-vehicle collision on the N2 southbound in the vicinity of Umgababa on Wednesday night, 26 July at about 8pm.

VEMA paramedics found one vehicle had overturned, coming to rest on its roof.

“There were a total of eight patients consisting of adults and minors who sustained minor to moderate injuries,” said a VEMA paramedic.

The patients were stabilised on scene, before being transported to hospitals.

SAPS were on scene and will investigate the cause of the incident.
