Shades of pink to colour AWI’s birthday party

Thank you to all for donating cold drinks for Bobby Bear.

PRESIDENT of Amanzimtoti Women’s Institute (AWI), Yvonne Dixie opened the July meeting by welcoming all members.

Everyone was so pleased to see Myrna Olyott at the meeting and equally glad her knee operation was successful.

All enjoyed Nan Podmore’s 90th birthday tea party at 305 Kingsway, a beautiful setting overlooking the sea. AWI were informed pensioners could enjoy a 10% discount at the spa on the premises on the first Friday of the month.

AWI’s birthday party will be on 5 September, the theme of which will be ‘shades of pink’ for dress and table settings. It would be appreciated if for the August meeting, members could take along a grocery item for a hamper that will be raffled at the party. Also don’t forget to return any trophies at the next meeting.

Thank you to all for donating cold drinks for Bobbi Bear.

For the August meeting, donate stationery items for Bobbi Bear, such as crayons, pencils, J115 notebooks, small brown paper bags and permanent markers.

Patricia McCann then lead everyone in song with ‘The Happy Wanderer’ and it was indeed happy. This month’s speaker was Gill van Wyk, a specialist in the study of flora and fauna, and she is thanked for taking the time to give such an interesting talk on invasive and alien trees and plants. On display were various cuts from these alien trees and plants for members’ garden study. Alien trees should be removed to enhance the garden.
