Go ghost mode on Snapchat maps
The new feature will allow you to see where your friends are, what they are doing and who are they doing it with.
Snapchat has a new update and it opens a new virtual world on your phone called Snap Map where you can see where your friends are, what they are doing and who are they doing it with.

This controversial feature has set off alarms for concerned parents who feel the safety of their children who are using the social network, Snapchat will be compromised.
Snap Maps can tell the user whether their friends are travelling in a car or sitting down at school.
This evasive feature which is called stalkerish by many of its users has raised concerns about the possibility of inciting kidnappings as people are able to track you down in real time. On the Snapchat blog, introducing the feature they say: “We’ve built a whole new way to explore the world! See what’s happening, find your friends, and get inspired to go on an adventure!”

But they also mention that it is possible to switch off Snap Maps so you do not appear on the map. This is called ghost mode. ” You decide if you want to share your location with friends, or simply keep it to yourself with ghost mode,” said the blog.
Ghost mode will let you keep you location private but you will still be able to search around for your Snapchat friend’s location – if they decide to keep their location public.
According to new site Metro.co.uk ghost mode is permanent so once you switch the setting to hide your location from your Snapchat friends, your location will remain hidden until you decide to change your setting and switch off ghost mode.
To access Snap Map, open Snapchat and go to your camera screen, pinch the screen or do a zoom out finger motion on the screen and the Snap Map will open.
You should be able to see your bitmoji icon, on the map according to your location at the time.
Go to the Snap Map homepage and on the top right hand corner you will see a cog or the usual setting symbol, to change your location sharing setting you can click on this. Then switch on ghost mode.
You can see listed below are other options to customise your location sharing settings. You can either make you location public to your Snapchat friends or you can selectively choose which friends should be able to see your whereabouts on Snapchat, and which friends you would rather not know about your location.
