Warm up for yoga charity day fundraiser

All funds raised at the event will go to the Amanzimtoti SPCA - making it a worthwhile event.

THREE local yoga instructors will join forces to host the Young Yoga Institute (YYI) yoga charity day fundraiser tomorrow, on Saturday, 24 June.

All funds raised at the event will go to the Amanzimtoti SPCA – making it a worthwhile event.

YYI has been hosting the annual yoga charity day for years, however, for a long time it was exclusively a Durban event. Three highly experienced local teachers Laura Konig, Pam Cochrane and Ria Kock decided to bring the event to the St Winifreds Methodist Church in the heart of Warner Beach.

The morning promises numerous physical benefits while also offering good company and no doubt a good laugh.

“Everyone should feel more than welcome to join, no matter what level of yoga you’re at,” said Pam Cochrane. “If you’ve been wanting to give yoga a try, there is no better time to start. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a small blanket or a thick towel. If you have a yoga mat bring it along. If not, there will be many available on the morning.”

Warner Beach based yoga teacher, Laura Konig has been teaching the practice locally for over 10 years. She is one of three teachers that will be hosting the fundraising day on Saturday, 24 June.

The yogis advise arriving at 8am as the morning will kick off at 8.30am. Those who attend will be guided through poses and stretches until 10.30am, when they will enjoy tea and snacks. After the break, yoga will continue until noon.

There is an entrance fee of R100 and if able, a tray of simple breakfast or lunch snacks will be highly appreciated.

“By buying a R5 raffle ticket you stand a chance to win the most beautiful mandala yoga mat,” said Laura. “Tickets will be on sale on the morning and the winners drawn at noon.”
