Municipality clamp down on illegal advertisers

Fines will be issued in accordance with the provisions of the bylaws.

The municipal advertising and signage department conducted an inspection of the southern area between Umkomaas and Amanzimtoti last week and removed several illegal and irregular advertising.

Residents, business owners and estate agents are reminded to read the eThekwini advertising and signage bylaws in conjunction with the advertising and signage policy, prior to the erection or installation of signs.

“Signage not yet removed has not been overlooked, the vehicle was just full,” said ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge.

“The department is scheduled to return and continue removing all illegal and irregular signage. Fines will be issued in accordance with the provisions of the bylaws.”
