Man killed in Prospecton armed robbery

It is believed the man had exited the bank with R45,000.

A man in his mid to late 40s was shot dead outside Standard Bank in Prospecton Road during a robbery at about noon today, Monday, 19 June.

It is understood the man, believed to be a scrap metal dealer, had just exited the bank with R45,000 when he was approached by two armed men.

He was shot before the men made their escape in a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer.

A 9mm casing was found at the scene. Netcare 911 paramedics tried to resuscitate the man, but he was declared dead at the scene.
