“This open day was by far the best we have hosted,” said manager of the local SPCA, Tracey Girling. “As a result of the food sold, together with our shop sales, we managed to raise R5,689 which will definitely help towards our food bill.”

Delicious cakes and the smell of breakfast buns and coffee wafting through the air, together with many cats to stroke and dogs to cuddle saw the SPCA inundated with visitors. Many people took out monthly kennel sponsorships and there are as many as five previous strays awaiting property checks before they go to their new loving homes.

Tracey thanks everyone for supporting the event. “It was so lovely to see so many new faces visiting us,” she said. “A big thanks goes to all the devoted volunteers who worked so hard, cooking, selling and promoting our gorgeous animals up for adoption. We are so lucky to have you as a part of our SPCA.”
