Kingsburgh Lions elect new president

The club's focus for 2017/2018 will be to continue with the successful projects they have been running and work on new projects.

Moira Rigby (60) has been inducted as the new president of Kingsburgh Lions.

She was inducted at a Lions dinner on Saturday, 10 June.

Moira joined Kingsburgh Lions in October 2014. “I have always had a servant heart and enjoy helping others in need,” she said.

“My husband and I went to one of the Lions pensioners lunches a few years ago and I felt so awkward as I knew I should have been on the serving side and not on the receiving end. It was shortly after that lunch that I approached both Lions clubs in Amanzimtoti.

“I felt happier to join the Kingsburgh club, as I don’t enjoy driving at night and we meet on the second Monday afternoon of the month at St Mary’s Church Hall in Warner Beach. The time suited me and I am very happy I joined. Belonging to Kingsburgh Lions feels like a home from home. When I was approached to stand as president, I felt honoured and humbled.

“The 2017/18 focus for our club will be to continue with the successful projects we have running at the moment and to work on new projects that will enable us to serve our community as effectively as possible, to double our membership so that we can give more back to the community, and to continue our fundraising activities to allow the club to reach a larger section of those in need.”
