Amanzimtoti High School has registered to take part in the School SleepOut on Friday, 30 June.
The SleepOut is created by the Philanthropic Collection, a social entrepreneurship collective that collaborates with businesses to change heart and mindsets, and find new approaches to philanthropy.
The event is part of a global movement, effecting positive social change in vulnerable and disadvantaged communities.
The initiative invites business leaders to spend a winter’s night on the streets, raising funds and empathy for the homeless.
The inaugural CEO SleepOut in South Africa took place in 2015 when 247 CEO and senior executives spent the night on Gwen Lane, Sandton, and raised more than R26-million for Girls and Boys Town.

The School SleepOut is in its second year in South Africa. Parents, pupils and teachers across the country can spend the night outdoors on their school grounds and collect items for beneficiaries in need.
This year’s primary beneficiary is Door of Hope, which aims to save abandoned babies and find safe and loving family environments for them.

Along with the primary beneficiary, secondary beneficiaries also benefit from the SleepOut movement and its affiliated brands. The secondary beneficiaries are Homeless Talk, the Salvation Army, and Gift of the Givers.
