Enhance your skills with Amanzimtoti welfare’s free courses

The Amanzimtoti Welfare Society is offering free cooking, baking and domestic workers empowerment programmes.

THE Amanzimtoti Child and Family Welfare invites residents to join its programmes and participate in its projects.

These programmes are funded by the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) and are free to the community, however beneficiaries would have to find their own transportation to and from the society.

The cooking and baking project is a six week session with one lesson per week. After the sixth session, a graduation ceremony will be held and all learners who have completed the full course will receive a Certificate of Attendance and a seventh more advanced class will be held on this day as well. Classes will be between two hours and two and a half hours.

Course content:
Week 1 – Meat balls with chutney; macaroni pasta; green greek salad and iced cupcakes.
Week 2 – Coleslaw; steam bread and chicken curry.
Week 3 – Roast lamb; grilled fish; roast chicken; potato salad and bran muffins.
Week 4 – Garlic and cheese bread; scones and chicken stew with vegetables.
Week 5 – Grated carrots; raisins and cubed pineapple salad; pancakes with chicken filling and chocolate cake.
Week 6- Chicken lasagna; roast butternut, grilled potato and swiss roll.
Graduation ceremony day – One advanced lesson.

The domestic workers empowerment programme is held over four weeks. One day per week and two modules are facilitated per day. Each class is four hours.

Modules include:
1. Domestic skills and hygiene
2. Reception and office management
3. Eco-gardening
4. Baby care
5. Home management
6. Basic cooking and baking skills
7. Primary health care
8. Basic first aid skills

A Certificate of Attendance will also awarded to all successful candidates who complete all eight modules.

Those who are interested are encouraged to contact the society and they will be informed of the dates and times and any other information pertaining to the programmes.

The Welfare is situated at the corner of Adams Road and Lewis Drive in Amanzimtoti.
