Bikers rev to help sight restoration fund

The ride is aimed at helping Storm get a step closer to regaining his eyesight.

AMANZIMTOTI local, Storm Schwartz (26) calls on bikers to join the ‘Ride for Storm’ breakfast run fundraiser on Saturday, 3 June.

The Banana Beach-bound breakfast ride organised by friends and family, is aimed at helping Storm get a step closer to regaining his eyesight.

A life in darkness hasn’t characterised the local’s entire life. A diagnosis of Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) at the age of 10 led to the deterioration of his vision and by 18, he was completely blind. Fortunately an American company, Second Sight offers an operation which will allow Storm to regain some of his eye-sight again, albeit at a high cost.

Numerous fundraisers have taken place since the discovery of the sight-restoring operation and the support has been amazing.

Bikers are called to join the breakfast run, where those supporting will leave from Toti Oasis at 8am and head down the beautiful South Coast to Pitstop Banana Beach. At a charge of R50, bikers will receive a ‘biker breakfast’ which includes a cloth badge.

“Words can’t express how grateful I am for the help that has already come in and all the support I feel over this time,” said Storm. Those interested are urged to contact Johan on 082-321-8401.
