Umlazi bank robbers shoot guard, assault man

ER24 later went to the hospital where they found the security guard in a serious condition, being attended to by trauma unit staff.

A member of the public sustained moderate injuries after he was assaulted during a bank robbery in KwaMnyandu, Umlazi on Tuesday, 30 May.
At about 4.30pm, paramedics from ER24 arrived to find a man had sustained facial injuries.

“He explained to paramedics that he was assaulted by one of the criminals,” said ER24’s Werner Vermaak. They treated and later transported him to hospital.

A bystander explained to paramedics that a security guard from the mall had been shot in the chest during the ordeal. He was rushed to hospital before paramedics arrived.

ER24 later went to the hospital where they found the security guard in a serious condition, being attended to by trauma unit staff.
Police attended the scene and were investigating.
