Toti star scoops sizzling win at Braai Master challenge

Nick Perfect won the Braai Masters challenge with his girlfriend Chanel Marais.

AFTER weathering the storm against nine other teams, former Amanzimtoti local Nick Perfect (28) and his girlfriend Chanel Marais (27) won the fifth season of the Ultimate Braai Master challenge.

Team ‘Salty Flames’ will now use all they’ve learned to start up their own mobile food kitchen, smoking up meals you never thought were ‘smokable’.

Nick Perfect went on to win the Braai Masters challenge with his girlfriend Chanel Marais.

Each season of the challenge saw the contestants embark on the adventure of a lifetime to a number of off the beaten track locations, all in the name of the braai.

They vied against other teams for a chance to get their hands on the cash, car and the title of South Africa’s Ultimate Braai Master.

“We started in October and the season continued for six weeks,” explained Chanel. “There were 10 teams comprised of two people per team. We all met at the Port Elizabeth airport where the cameras came out and the show began. We then went to the Gamtoos River and had our first challenge and camping episode.”

Chanel says they never thought about winning the challenge. “You are so focused on just getting through the challenge at hand,” said Chanel. “However, once we beat Team Ebony and Ivory to make it in the top three, only then did it click and become a reality that winning may be possible.”

All the hard work and pressure the couple endured definitely paid off when they won the prize bounty of a Suzuki Grand Vitara, R400,000 in cash, R230,000 Game vouchers and two Kamado Jans.
