Fire officials used an axe to gain access through the closed door

A fire in a garage at a Doonside block of flats yesterday afternoon saw traffic back up along Rockview Road.
At about 3.30pm fire department and paramedics responded to a block of flats, where the motor of an automated garage door had burst into flames, filling the garage with smoke.

Fire officials used an axe to gain access through the closed door, but found the fire had extinguished itself due to a lack of oxygen.

The garage was fortunately vacant at the time of the incident.

Southbound traffic along Rockview Road slowed to a crawl as a result.
