Armed robbers shoot Isipingo businessman in leg

Police said the robbers made off with about R15,000.

A business owner was shot in the leg during an armed robbery in the Isipingo CBD on Wednesday evening, 17 May.

Police said the robbers made off with about R15,000.

“The business owner was locking up his shop at about 6.30pm when he was approached by three men, one of whom was armed,” said Isipingo SAPS communication officer, Captain David Ragavan.

They threatened the owner and forced him to open the shop. The owner was shot in the leg before the men fled, escaping with about R3,000 in cash, a firearm and cellphone.

“We have beefed up policing in the area and we are working closely with the Isipingo Business Forum to identify known suspects,” said Capt Ragavan.
