Motorists are urged to take care, especially on the N2 in the CBD area.

A pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while running across the N2 south near Adams Road in Amanzimtoti yesterday afternoon (Sunday, 21 May).

Netcare 911 paramedics were driving back to Margate when they came across the scene at about 5pm and found the man, believed to be in his 20s, lying on the roadway with life-threatening injuries.

“It was found the man had died on impact due to the extensive injuries he sustained,” said Netcare 911 media liaison, Chris Botha.

Paramedics advise the public to rather use the bridges to cross the highway for their own safety. “Motorists are urged to take care, especially on the N2 in the CBD area of Amanzimtoti, as this seems to be an area where pedestrians consistently run across the highway,” he added.
