Housebreaker nabbed with stolen goods in Amanzimtoti

The man confessed to stealing the microwave and took the patrol officer to the house he broke into.

A housebreaker was caught with stolen goods after he was spotted walking on the highway by an eagle-eyed CCPO committee member on Friday, 19 May.

CCPO’s George Snodey saw the man carrying a box on the N2 near Kingsway High School.

He asked CCPO and Blue Security patrol officer, Mbuyiselo ‘Triple M’ Mdunjane to investigate.

The box contained a microwave and it was established that it was stolen from a premises on Kingsway in Amanzimtoti.

The thief was handed over to Toti SAPS and a case opened.

“Triple M is commended for his perseverance of the truth,” said Snodey. “The suspect told him the microwave was broken, but he didn’t believe him and interrogated him a bit.

“After realising he wasn’t going to get away with the lie, he finally confessed and took Triple M to the house where he had broken in to steal the microwave. He also admitted to breaking in the previous day to steal other items from the same premises.

“The owner of the premises is a friend, so it was nice to be able to assist him and the bonus is he has been a CCPO client from day one,” said Snodey.

On Wednesday, 17 May a thief was caught by a CCPO patrolman after the theft of a laptop from Beach Road, Winklespruit. Unfortunately, the thief’s accomplice escaped with the laptop.
