Man’s body found in Illovo stormwater drain

The man was found lying face down in the drain.

THE body of a man was found in a stormwater drain next to the R603 in Illovo on Tuesday, 16 May.

Authorities were alerted after a resident spotted the man. ER24 paramedics, along with SAPS search and rescue, arrived at about noon. According to paramedics, it is unknown when the man died.

“On closer inspection, paramedics discovered the body of a man lying face down in the drain,” said ER24’s Russel Meiring.

Search and rescue technicians used rope rescue equipment to pull the body to the surface. “Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead on the scene,” said Meiring.

Details surrounding this incident are sketchy, but police were called to the scene for further investigations.
