Elderly woman flung against car door in collision

The elderly woman's daughter escaped with minor injuries.

Two women escaped with minor injuries after a vehicle collided with theirs in Oppenheimer Road this afternoon (Thursday, 11 May).

“Reports from the scene indicate that a woman was coming from the doctor’s rooms after fetching her mother just after 1pm,” said Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Chris Botha.

“When she got to the Oppenheimer Road intersection by the service station, another vehicle collided into the side of their vehicle.

“Paramedics found that a frail elderly woman was sitting in the passenger seat when they collided. With the force of the impact, she was flung against the door and sustained moderate injuries. Her daughter escaped with minor injuries,” added Botha.

Medics treated the injured at the scene and then transported them to a local hospital.
