Drones could take data capturing to the next level

Apart from capturing and reporting useful data, drones can also be used for security monitoring purposes.

Conservation KZN is investigating the use of drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) to assist conservationists – and farmers – in capturing and reporting useful data.

As drones come in two forms, fixed wing and copter designs, they can be employed over both large and small areas.

Fitted with infra-red and UV scanners, drones can, for example, map vegetation and identify plant diseases as well as track and record animal life.

They can also be used for security monitoring purposes.
