Beaten man found dead in car on R603

Paramedics found the body of a man lying in the back seat of a light motor vehicle

A man, believed to be in his 30s, was found dead this afternoon on the R603, some 25km west of Amanzimtoti.

ER24 paramedics returning to their branch were flagged down by local authorities in the road.

On closer inspection, paramedics found the body of a man lying in the back seat of a light motor vehicle.

Paramedics found he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, he had already succumbed to his injuries. Nothing more could be done and he was declared dead at the scene.

According to ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring, the man had been beaten by an unknown number of people. A passerby loaded the man into the vehicle and drove towards the local authorities to find help.

Police will investigate the man’s death.
