CPR demos to help counter loss of life

The aim was to increase the awareness and importance of early CPR.

With the holiday season at hand, Netcare Kingsway Hospital and paramedics set up a CPR demonstration at Galleria Mall on Thursday, 13 April.

“The aim was to increase the awareness and importance of early CPR, as three recent cases in the Durban area proved the need,” said Netcare media liaison, Chris Botha.

Netcare Kingsway Hospital manager, Anna Demetriou demonstrates the correct way to do CPR.

In all three cases, the patients’ hearts stopped and the people who witnessed the incident started CPR immediately. All three victims lived to walk out of hospital.

“Thursday was the start of the awareness campaign and for those in KZN who are interested, we will host it again at the Pavilion in Durban and at the Crescent Shopping Centre in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday, 22 April from 9am to 4pm.”
