THE behind-the-scenes planning for the Highland Gathering, which is only a short four weeks away, is gathering momentum.
Amanzimtoti Lions president, Carol Botha confirmed the Scottish pipe bands will bring their special brand of music to the Hutchison Park fields on Saturday, 29 April for the annual showcase of Scottish piping and dancing.
The live music entertainment in the arena is taking shape, with confirmed appearances by local singing talents, Ethan Abrahamse and Keeley Crocker.

Both of these youngsters have formidable vocal strength and will bring their unique brands of entertainment to their solo performances.
Still keeping it local, the entertainment will also include a performance by the Warner Beach Prep steel drum band, drummies from Mickie en Minnie Kleuterskool, a hip hop and ballet demo by a rhythmic dance studio and Double Beat Drum Studio drumming session. Then there’s a line dancing session by the Toti Hillbillies and Toti Ranch will have its horses in the arena for a demo. Toti Lions is privileged to have secured sponsorship from Galleria for the costs associated with hosting renowned international piping judge, Terry Tully who will adjudicate the official pipe band section. Tully’s name is synonymous with traditional Irish music in the world of bagpipes, and his participation will add another dimension to the piping competition.
The Gathering will also play host to the annual Miss Highland Gathering pageant, with several categories planned. More details about the pageant will be made available in the weeks to come.
Stallholders can still book to be at the Gathering, by finding the forms and information on the Facebook page . The coffee stalls are fully booked but there are still spots available for other vendors.
The Lifestyle Expo again returns as the partner event run alongside the Highland Gathering this year, and there is still exhibition space available.
A secure children’s zone managed by JR Entertainment has been booked, where children can let their hair down and enjoy the thrills of the bungee trampoline, ferris wheel, giant slides, sumo wrestling and interactive games. All the while, parents will want to take in the sights of the various stalls that have already been secured, including Giant Toti, Hyundai Amanzimtoti, Mark White Nissan, Durban South Toyota, ATKV Natalia, Blue Security, ET Rapid Response, Complete Flooring as well as some new faces such as Back to Basics, Easi Grass, Value Fencing, Frameless Glass and many more.
Four Walls has come on board as the lifestyle expo’s pop-up restaurant for the day, hence the public will be able to enjoy their offerings.
