UPDATE: Part of fire-ravaged building collapses

A 35-year-old man was injured in the blaze.

Wax panels were being stored in the building which is currently ablaze in South Coast Road, according to a report from the scene by Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson.

The SAPS told Jamieson that wax panels stored in the building are making it difficult to control the fire.

Durban Metro fire fighters are battling the blaze in the face of a strong wind, which has seen the smoke billow across the city northward.

An injured 35-year-old man was treated on scene and taken to hospital.

Jamieson said part of the warehouse style building has collapsed.
