Pistol club shooters take aim at sponsors

It's an art and it enhances your self-discipline.

SPONSORSHIP is needed for the talented and well-oiled Poinsettia Pistol Club team.

The seven team members have just qualified for the national open championship which will be held at the Bellville shooting range from 24 to 28 April.

The passionate team is in need of a uniform as well as sponsorship to attend the competition. ” It will cost about R6,000 for each member to travel down to the Western Cape. It’s an event that can’t be missed and for one of our teammates, it will be her first,” said Kevin Matthews.

The team who are more like family then friends, have been practising in preparation for the championships and are confident they will bring home gold. “We ask people to support us as we are a worthy team. We work hard and continue to grow as professionals,” added Matthews.

Despite the negative spin about shooting and guns, the team members hope to change people’s minds by inviting them to  have a go at the shooting range in Toti. “This sport can teach you so much. It’s an art and it enhances your self-discipline, accuracy, concentration and dedication. It’s a mind over matter sport where breathing and posture is very important,” said member, Enrico Boaga.
