Playhouse Company production visits local school

ATHLONE Park Primary's pupils were treated to a performance of The Playhouse Company 'My Body and I' on Monday, 13 March.

The act aims to raise awareness about problems that children face, that inevitably affect their days at school.

The primary school’s grade 5, 6 and 7 pupils were enthralled by the talent of the Playhouse Company’s actors and dancers. The production has been on stage since 20 February at the Loft Theatre, in a run that lasts until 17 March. The amazingly talented cast has ventured out into schools, hoping their message will reach many ears.

The production is performed by the Playhouse Dance Residency and the Playhouse Actors Studio. They use a combination of narrative, drama and dance to educate pupils about decision-making and consent in relation to their bodies. Themes covered include ‘caring for my body’ and ‘I am special, I have feelings’.

The primary school’s grade 5, 6 and 7 pupils were enthralled by the talent of the Playhouse Company’s actors and dancers.

My Body and I aims to equip young pupils with the vital skills they need to make decisions concerning their bodies, with regards to respect and responsibility. The 50-minute long production was followed by an interactive question and answer session, where school teachers were confident their pupils had absorbed much of the messages and lessons on offer.
