Overloaded taxi driver found to be drunk and unlicensed

Taxi seen travelling in Platt Drive, Isipingo Hills was carrying 22 people, including young children

AN overloaded taxi, driven by an unlicensed driver who was suspected to be intoxicated, was intercepted and stopped on Sunday, 26 February in Isipingo.

An Alpha tactical supervisor halted the taxi, which was seen travelling on Platt Drive in Isipingo Hills on Sunday afternoon.

There were 22 passengers in the taxi, including young children.

Alpha called Metro Police and SAPS who responded to the scene. The driver was found to be unlicensed as well as intoxicated, and the taxi was said to be unlicensed. The vehicle was impounded and the driver taken into custody.
