[VIDEO] Yellow lane N2 taxi crash injures seven

One taxi was in the slow lane when it was hit by a taxi that came hurtling up the yellow lane.

Seven people were injured, two critically, when two taxis collided on the N2 northbound near the Moss Kolnick Road off-ramp at about 8am on Wednesday, 15 February.

“Reports from the scene indicate that one taxi was in the slow lane when it was hit by a taxi that came hurtling up the yellow lane,” said Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Chris Botha.

“The taxi then veered across the road and mounted an Armco barrier. The driver miraculously managed to keep the vehicle on its wheels and pulled onto the off-ramp.”

Paramedics found three patients still seated in the taxi, two with critical injuries, while one had glass in her eyes.

After the two critically-injured patients were immobilised on spinal boards, they were removed from the vehicle and transported to a hospital in Umlazi.

Four other patients with minor injuries were treated at the scene and transported to the same hospital.
