Sisters, both 3, saved from drowning at Baggies

They had been playing in the tidal pool when they disappeared under the water

Two young sisters almost drowned at Baggies Beach in Warner Beach on Sunday at about 1pm on Sunday, 29 January.

The two sisters, aged three and almost four, had been playing in the tidal pool when they disappeared under the water.

Quick action from a bystander and lifeguards saw the children pulled from the water.

While one of the sisters was unresponsive, Netcare 911 paramedics who responded found the life guards and public had initiated CPR on the three-year-old. After a few minutes, the child started coughing to everyone’s relief. An advanced life support paramedic who examined both children found that they displayed near drowning symptoms.

They were transported to a provincial hospital.
