LOCAL fitness enthusiast, Courtney Grove (27), is ecstatic that after losing 36kgs, health magazine, ‘Fatloss’, asked her to be the November 2016 cover model.

The former Scottburgh resident, who now lives in Amanzimtoti, was over the moon to be contacted by the Johannesburg based health and fitness magazine.

“I hadn’t sent my transformation to anyone specifically or contacted the magazine. It was out of the blue. It was the weirdest phone call I had ever received,” admits Courtney.

After accepting the request, Courtney had three weeks before she was on a plane to Johannesburg, where her ‘fairy-tale experience’ would begin. Being driven around to have her hair and make-up done, followed with a wide wardrobe selection, it was more than she could’ve dreamed of. After five hours of grilling photos, she was on her way back to work.

Courtney aims to promote the magazine and her choice of a healthy lifestyle, knowing that her struggle with weight loss, like many others, can be conquered. She decided to transform herself as she became aware of medical issues related to the unhealthy lifestyle she was leading at that time, weighing 106kgs.

“I wanted to feel good about myself again, to wear nice clothes, to be able to walk up a flight of stairs and not feel out of breath”.

The cover model goes on to explain that healthy eating and the choice of a healthier lifestyle transformed her, without surgery or weight-loss quick fixes. She scaled down to a slim and toned 70kgs. Courtney’s hobbies include outdoor training, bike riding, archery and diving.

The fitness guru understands the power of social media, as without it, she wouldn’t have been recognised for the magazine. Courtney wants all women out there to understand that they never have to live in a body they’re not happy with and that the life you live should be celebrated, not settled for.

The health enthusiast is in the process of starting a nutritional and dieting business, to assist men and woman in reaching their own personal weight-loss goals. For more information visit www.cgfitness.co.za
