Biker collides with beach lifeguard tower

He was riding down the road at Winkle beach when his accelerator apparently jammed and the bike’s handlebars locked

A collision at about 6pm on Sunday evening, 15 January saw a motorcyclist collide with a concrete park bench at the Winklespruit beach lifeguard tower.

Netcare 911 paramedics were told that the biker was riding down the road when his accelerator jammed and the bike’s handlebars locked.

The biker veered off the road and slammed into a concrete park bench, sustaining serious injuries in the process.

Police will investigate the official cause of the incident. Advanced life support paramedics treated the man at the side of the roadway before transporting him to a local hospital.
