Welfare faces tough year

Our lottery funding, which we applied for in 2015, has still not been granted.

Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare’s charity shop and welfare office has re-opened its doors for the new year, despite facing what it believes will be a tough 2017.

“This will be a challenging year for us at Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare,” said chairman, Jenny Smith.

“Our lottery funding, which we applied for in 2015, has still not been granted. The only positive feedback we get when enquiring is to phone again next week.

We are not the only non-government organisation in this predicament. However, Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare is staying positive, so that we are able to carry on the tremendous work and provide poverty relief that has been helping this community for 73 years.“

The welfare’s charity shop is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 11.30am and the Toti public is urged to support it. Donate any unwanted clean clothing, shoes or household goods, which welfare is able to collect. The public can also purchase items at the shop, which helps support and fund welfare’s good work.

A social worker is available Monday to Friday from 8am to 1pm. “Don’t hesitate to call for a confidential appointment. All welfare queries are dealt with in a professional manner,” said Jenny.

Call the office on 031-916-2774 or 916-3007 or Jenny on 031-916-2362 (after hours), or visit the premises at 2 Hall Road, Warner Beach (next to Kingsburgh library).
