Romashan was the best bowler and batsman for Amanzimtoti Cricket Club U11s this year.

Amanzimtoti cricketer Romashan Pillay (11) has been selected as captain of the KZN U11 cricket team.

Romashan started playing cricket at the age of eight-years-old.

The Athlone Park Primary School grade 5 pupil was the best bowler and batsman for Amanzimtoti Cricket Club U11s this year.

“I love playing cricket. I like the fast pace of the game and that it is a gentleman’s game,” said Romashan, who represented Durban South at the age of nine.

He currently plays his cricket for ACC, Durban South, RPC (progressive cricketers) and KZN. Romashan is an all rounder who loves every aspect of the game.

“My first role as captain was for the Kearsney invitational team this year.”

He made the top 36 in KZN for 2015 and top 24 for KZN this year.

“I was overwhelmed to hear I had made the KZN team and I am really happy to be the KZN captain.

We are known as the KZN Dolphins team. Our first game was a triangular series in Bloemfontein in October and we will play all provincial teams in December in Secunda.

My favourite cricket player is AB de Villiers.

I also play hockey and soccer for my school.”
