Roof-climbing burglar gets three years behind bars

He had removed roof tiles to gain entry and stole clothing valued at R1,000 when he was collared

A burglar who made his entry through the roof of a Doonheights home in July this year got more than he bargained for when he was caught hiding inside the Poplar Road house and arrested by Metro Police’s Shawn Jooste.

The man had removed roof tiles to gain entry and had stolen clothing to the value of R1,000 when he was cuffed.

A case of housebreaking was opened and investigated by Constable Judy Mbokazi of Amanzimtoti SAPS detectives.

Mncedisi Mustapher Chande (23) appeared in Amanzimtoti Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to serve three years of direct imprisonment.
