Toti’s young ‘TRUpers’ lauded

Of these weekly regional winners, Toys R Us will announce the ultimate ‘TRUper’ on Friday, 9 December.

Being good will reap great rewards for South African pupils following the launch of the Toys R Us ‘TRUper’ competition, which aims to highlight the importance of carrying out good deeds.

Through the exciting competition, children from 45 participating schools across the country will be acknowledged and rewarded for simply displaying good virtues.

There will be a new winner announced each week from each school, and this week three Amanzimtoti pupils made the grade.

Aphiwe Msomi of Warner Beach Senior Prep received a nomination from the prefect group of 2016 for being well-mannered and respectful.

Warner Beach Junior Prep grade 3 pupil, Shaun Fortuin assists an elderly couple across the road from his home. He helps them around the house and offers them kind and loving company. His compassion and gentle nature is what makes his school proud to have him as a pupil.

Amanzimtoti Primary School’s Notando Gabela was nominated by her peers because they felt she stands up for them and speaks out when something is wrong. They felt she was a good friend and they respect her for that.

To stand a chance to claim the title of Toys R Us ‘TRUper’, the competition invites children to nominate a schoolmate who exhibits exemplary qualities and is recognised as a role model by his or her peers.

The competition, which kicked off on 31 October, will see each school select a child who exemplifies the qualities of a ‘do-gooder’ every week for the duration of the four-week competition.

Of these weekly regional winners, Toys R Us will announce the ultimate ‘TRUper’ on Friday, 9 December, who will stake their claim to the grand prize of a limited edition video game console.
