Rotary goes pink for Hospice this Movember

People are encouraged to wrap trees in pink material in front of their homes, offices and surrounding areas.

Rotary and local volunteers are helping Khanya Hospice with a huge fundraising initiative, the cancer awareness campaign, from now until the end of ‘Movember’.

They are focussed on selling pink material in aid of cancer awareness and the work that Hospice is doing.

People are encouraged to wrap trees in pink material in front of their homes, offices and surrounding areas.

“Just wrap anything in pink, as we need to create an awareness,” said CEO of Khanya Hospice, Neil McDonald.

This initiative will help raise much-needed funds for Khanya Hospice, that offers free palliative nursing care to patients diagnosed with cancer, on a daily basis. “Helping those who need it most is the driving force behind the ‘pink trees’ initiative.

The reality is the need is great out there.

Can you imagine if there are rows and rows of pink trees down your street, or in your area? Wow, that would send a serious message to everyone that we are serious about resisting and fighting the disease and offer support to people who need this. But to do this, we need your support in this initiative.”

Where can you start? By contacting Hospice and contributing your first R100 for five metres of pink material.

Amanzimtoti Rotary has bought one kilometre of pink material for this initiative and are selling pieces to whomever wants.

People can buy any bright pink material, wrap their trees, poles or pillars and donate money to Khanya Hospice.

You can get their friends and families involved in this fundraiser which you can do from the comfort of your own home or office.
