Isipingo CBD clean-up hailed

Armed members were on foot patrol and took to the streets in a bid to crack down on illegal activities.

Isipingo SAPS members were assisted by response officers during a clean-up operation of the Isipingo CBD on Friday morning, 7 October.

“There was a heavy security and police presence in the area, which pleased business owners and patrons,” said Alpha Alarms communications officer, Krishnee Naidoo.

Armed members were on foot patrol and took to the streets in a bid to crack down on illegal activities.

Suspicious people were searched and police and response officers hit alleged criminal hotspots.

The group also swooped on suspected drug dens in the Isipingo Rail vicinity. Unfortunately, no suspects were arrested.

Vispol commander at Isipingo SAPS, Lt Col Roussouw welcomed the idea of a joint partnership with response officers and said the strong and united presence proved to be a force to be reckoned with in the Isipingo CBD on Friday.

“These operations are ongoing and there is strength in numbers. We aim to zero in on the perpetrators of illegal activities in the area and ensure they have the book thrown at them for their criminal activities,” said Lt Col Roussouw.
