Two injured as spilt oil sends car spinning off N2

Paramedics witnessed car leaving the road and crashing into embankment

Paramedics were in the right place at the right time at about 2.45pm on Wednesday, 5 October, when they witnessed a car leaving the N2 and crashing into the embankment near the Joyner Road off-ramp.

The Netcare 911 paramedics were driving across the Joyner Road bridge in Prospecton at the time, when they noticed the collision.

Reports from the scene indicate that a vehicle driving on the northbound had engine difficulty when the piston came through the engine block, causing oil to spill onto the roadway.

The vehicle involved in the crash was rounding a bend when it hit the oil and spun out. The vehicle veered off the roadway and crashed into the Joyner Road off-ramp embankment. Paramedics treated two people with moderate injuries before transporting them to a nearby hospital.
