Cost-cutting boosts CCPO

Blue Security agreed to reduce the CCPO's monthly costs by over R17,000 with no cuts to service.

Negotiations between the chairman of the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) and its main service provider resulted in a major reduction in the crime fighting organisation’s monthly expenses.

Last week’s negotiations took place between the directors and management of Blue Security and CCPO chairman, George Lithgow.

Blue Security agreed to reduce the CCPO’s monthly costs by over R17,000 with no cuts to service, which equates to a saving of over R206,000 per annum.

“This will be a tremendous saving and will help our organisation’s cash flow,” said Lithgow.

Lithgow negotiated a further saving of over R58,000 off its existing debt for past services rendered from Blue Security, which the CCPO committee was highly grateful for.

“The CCPO grew by an additional 38 members last month and it is this growth that is absolutely necessary in order to fight crime and keep it away from our borders,” said Lithgow.

“Our working relationship with Blue has always been good, as their team is highly dedicated and disciplined in their work.

They have assisted the CCPO greatly with their professional and efficient communication system, together with armed response on the ground. This type of relationship has proved to be big part of our success.

The CCPO is also thankful for the new close relationship we have with Amanzimtoti SAPS station commander, Bonginkosi Nkabinde.”

Last week the SAPS’ Martin Booyens addressed the CCPO committee on ways to improve crime-fighting initiatives in the area it operates.

“Meetings were also held with George Ross and the Metro Police management on co-ordinating operations in hot spots in our town.

It is this type of commitment and enthusiasm that is crucial in providing a serious crime-fighting organisation.

Our committee needs everyone on board from estate agents to business people and individuals to promote this area as one of the safest to live in, in KZN.

It is this positive attitude we need in going forward to make a serious difference,” said Lithgow.
