Released housebreaker nabbed again

It was established he was the same housebreaker who was caught by the CCPO a few months ago.

A housebreaker who was released when the complainant refused to open a case, was re-apprehended in Illovo Beach Road on Wednesday morning, 14 September.

According to Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) committee member, George Snodey, two men were seen jumping over a complex’s wall at about 4am.

One of the men was apprehended by an Illovo Beach community security officer.

“After he liaised with the CCPO, it was established he was the same housebreaker who was caught by the CCPO a few months ago in possession of stolen goods in Storm Lily Road in Astra Park,” said Snodey.

“When the complainant did not open a case, he was released. This is the result of apathy when people do not open a case. Since then he has been running amok and is probably responsible for a large number of break-ins. How long has he been harassing people in their homes, instead of being locked up?

We urge people to open a case, no matter how small the incident is, so that we can get these guys off the street.”
