Inkwali hip hop artist nominated for award

To vote for Bayanda, SMS LYD193 to 45633 at a cost of R1,50 per SMS.

An Inkwali hip hop producer is continuing to ride the wave of success since the release of his first single.

Bayanda Mzimela, AKA Tyraqeed Kid, has been nominated for the Live Your Dream SA Youth Awards as best upcoming artist.

This follows the release of his single ‘Napha Napha’ in May, which is playlisted on Yarona FM, one of the radio stations with the largest followings in Botswana.

He was interviewed for the radio station and toured Botswana to promote the single.

“I’m feeling great and thankful about the nomination because it means they recognise and respect my talent,” said Bayanda.

“I’ve been doing interviews from Botswana and meeting new people. My management and I chose to postpone my tour to Ghana to December. Napha Napha is being well received in every country that I’ve seen and they are loving the song.”

The 21-year-old muso started producing in 2010 and his single was self-written and produced, and features LMass (Lyrical Mass).

Bayanda filmed a music video for Napha Napha last month which will be aired on SABC and on Youtube soon. “I shot the music video at Nul Lounge and at Kloof. LMass and Isaac K came up with the concept for the video,” said Bayanda, who feels confident of taking the award for best upcoming artist.

To vote for Bayanda, SMS LYD193 to 45633 at a cost of R1,50 per SMS as many times as you like.

Voting lines close on 27 October.

The winner will walk away with R1,000 and become a Live Your Dream ambassador.

Napha Napha can be heard and downloaded on Bayanda’s Soundcloud page ‘Tyraqeed Kid’ and fans can link up with him on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram @Tyraqeed. To book him, call his manager on 073-113-0006.
