Winkle resident stabbed during house robbery

The men demanded cash and the keys to the couple's Ford Ranger bakkie.

A Winklespruit resident was stabbed in the chest during a house robbery at his residence in Foster Road on Wednesday, 7 September.

Toti SAPS communication officer, Captain Charlene van der Spuy said it is alleged the victim and his wife were asleep when they were awoken by the noise of glass breaking.

“They heard a loud bang as if the door was being kicked and two unknown men entered, armed with knives. The wife ran to the bathroom and locked herself in.”

The men kicked open the bathroom door and demanded cash and the keys to the couple’s Ford Ranger bakkie.

They took a laptop, cellphone, tablet, wallet and cash.

Thembinkosi Ntongana was stabbed in the chest before the men fled the scene in the couple’s vehicle.

“The victim was rushed to hospital by a family friend who alerted the police.

A case of house robbery and attempted murder is being investigated by the police.”
