Boost Toastmasters’ bid to charter a club

All are welcome to attend the relaunch at Amanzimtoti Methodist Church, 3 Dingwall Road.

Amanzimtoti Toastmasters hosts a relaunch on Thursday, 15 September to introduce the internationally acclaimed concept to the community.

Toastmasters is an international NPO that focuses on developing current leaders and bringing out the leader in each person through skills like public speaking and time management.

“When I moved to Toti from Gauteng, I learnt that attempts had been made to start a Toastmasters club in Amanzimtoti. I got involved and the Amanzimtoti Toastmasters Club was started on 7 April,” said Tracy Smith.

Currently the group has 10 members but 20 members are needed to charter a club. “We have a club already but for Toastmasters International to recognise us as a club, we need 20 members. As an incentive, we were told that if we charter by end of September, Toastmasters International will give us a free club banner. We have to purchase these banners for our club from America, which will cost us over R2,000.

The relaunch meeting we will host on 15 September is an open house meeting where we can showcase what Toastmasters is about and how becoming a member can benefit you.”

All are welcome to attend the relaunch at Amanzimtoti Methodist Church, 3 Dingwall Road. There is a R30 entrance fee to cover costs. Refreshments will be served. The meeting starts at 7pm and ends at 9pm.
